Who we are

New Hampshire ATV Club

The New Hampshire ATV Club (NHATV) was founded in February of 1998 by a small but dedicated group of just twenty riders. What began as a few friends who shared a love for the outdoors and the thrill of riding quickly grew into something much larger — a community of riders, families, and supporters committed to preserving the land, protecting the trails, and promoting safe and responsible ATV use across the state of New Hampshire.

From the very beginning, NHATV has been built on the belief that riding is more than just recreation — it’s about community, stewardship, and responsibility. As one of 28 clubs that make up NHOHVA, we work hand in hand with state officials, landowners, and other clubs to ensure that ATV riders have access to well-maintained trails today and that future generations will have the same opportunities tomorrow.

Our Mission

Our mission has always been twofold: to protect the land we ride on while improving the riding experience for all enthusiasts. We strive to build positive relationships with the community by showing that ATV riders can be responsible stewards of the land. Safety is a core part of our philosophy — every event, ride, and trail project is planned with the well-being of our members and the public in mind.

We also see ourselves as educators. Whether through safety courses, legislative advocacy, or community outreach, we are constantly working to raise awareness about the importance of responsible riding. By educating our members, we help shape the future of ATV culture in New Hampshire.

What We Do

Over the years, NHATV has grown into a club with many roles. We are riders, trail builders, community partners, and advocates. Among our most important efforts are:

  • Organizing group rides both within the club and in cooperation with other ATV organizations. These rides bring members together and strengthen the sense of community that makes our club unique.

  • Maintaining established trail systems, including our “home trail,” the Rockingham Recreational Trail. Our members put in countless volunteer hours grading the trail, clearing trash, and ensuring safe, enjoyable access for all trail users.

  • Monitoring ATV legislation to protect rider rights while respecting landowner and community concerns.

  • Conducting safety courses that teach new and experienced riders the importance of responsible ATV use.

  • Improving the image of ATV riders by showing that we are a positive, engaged, and respectful community.

  • Hosting fundraising events for charities, such as our well-known Toys for Tots ride and the popular Mt. Washington ATV Ride, which bring together riders from across the state for a cause greater than ourselves.

Our Achievements

Since our founding in 1998, NHATV has completed many significant projects and continues to take pride in improving New Hampshire’s ATV community:

  • We have held numerous safety training courses, helping to instill responsible riding habits in hundreds of riders.

  • Our charity functions, such as Toys for Tots, have raised donations and brought holiday cheer to families in need.

  • We maintain and improve the Rockingham Recreational Trail, which we proudly call our “home trail.” From grading the terrain to cleaning up trash left behind by others, our volunteers ensure the trail remains one of the best in the state.

  • We completed a major parking lot upgrade at Warner Hill and constructed two trail kiosks — one at Fremont and another at Warner Hill — to improve access and provide useful information to riders.

  • We continue to plan and develop new projects that will make the trail system more enjoyable, sustainable, and accessible.

Membership & Community

Membership in NHATV is about more than riding. It’s about belonging to a group of people who share your passion for adventure while caring for the land and community that make it possible.

Whether you’re a seasoned rider or new to the sport, you’ll find friendship, opportunities to give back, and the chance to ride some of the most beautiful trails in the state as a member of NHATV.
